On May 5th, 2010 our life was redefined when we discovered that I have a tumor
growing in the spinal cord of my neck.

The purpose of this blog to keep an updated record of our "Life Redefined" and give you the details you might be wondering about (surgery, recovery and other random daily stuff, etc...)

For our friends and our family members who want to be kept updated this is the easiest way for us to do it. It's also good therapy for me to write it down!

We still want you to call or visit if you feel like it - we find so much strength from you. All of your words and encouraging thoughts and prayers are a great blessing for us!

Salt Lake Accomodations for my family...

During the expected 3 week duration of my recovery and rehabilitation there will always be someone from my family in the Salt Lake area.  We are looking for a condo or apartment to rent that is furnished and as close to the hospital as we can get.

If any of you have any ideas we would be so grateful to find somewhere for them to have as a hub to come and go from throughout the next weeks.  Two bedrooms would be nice and we will work out payment arrangements.

Kara,
My brother and sister-in-law live on campus at the U of U. They are looking into some options. I will let you know as soon as I know something. We love you and are praying for you and your family!

Kara it has been a while since I have seen you and I hope you remember me. We were visiting teaching partners once and when I last saw you, you were training for a triathalon. I heard your story and want you to know I thought you were the strongest girl ever and I wanted to stronger testamony like you. I hope and pray for you and your family. I know you can be strong.

"Patience—the ability to put our desires on hold for a time—is a precious and rare virtue. We want what we want, and we want it now. Therefore, the very idea of patience may seem unpleasant and, at times, bitter. Nevertheless, without patience, we cannot please God; we cannot become perfect. Indeed, patience is a purifying process that refines understanding, deepens happiness, focuses action, and offers hope for peace."

Kara, my family had to stay down in SL for 4 months while my niece was in primary children's. If you call the social worker at the hospital they can give you some options. We were able to park a camper in the parking lot. Also there's the Ronald McDonald house...I think it's $15 dollars a night, including meals. And the u of u Guesthouse gives discounts to patience families. Anything to make it easier and your family comfortable! Good luck Hun! Prayers and good vibes coming your way! Loves!

I know that there is some guesthouse suites close to the hospital that is used for student housing. I'm sure there is plenty of room there right now with the semester coming to an end...also, call the hospital pr department, they usually have a list of place they can stay at.

I believe that we have found a housing situation for my family. We found a man who is willing to rent us his condo. We are firming things up in the next day or two. Thank you to all who offered their assistence here.
